Sounds like: Experimental Rock

1. How did you get started with music and how did you develop your sound? Who thought of the name “ODD” and is there any meaning behind it?

We started to play together as a Pink Floyd Tribute band in 2012. This period helped us to being more confident with big soundscapes and helped us to learn how to create stuff like that. Our first name was "Prisma's Theory". After that we start to create our music with other influences, putting in a more modern sound that draws inspiration from post progressive band as Porcupine Tree or Tool, post rock, ambient, EDM and other trippy things. The name ODD comes from the double soul of our music: we are 'odd', strange and non-conformist and we love "odd" time signature. That's all.

2. What do you want you listeners to take away from your music?

We always try to create soundscapes, making our listeners 'high'. We are not interested in making people happy, carefree or antisocial. Our listeners must be completely overwhelmed by our music. No compromise, only us, our music, people and emotions.

3. What can people expect from your upcoming music? How's it different than the "Last Gear" EP?

We are working on new stuff. Our soul is always the same. We are trying to simplify our songs. Less metrical complexity in order to improve our soundscapes. We are giving more space to electronic solutions and voices. Next work will be more mature and emotional. Less 'progressive' and psychedelic than Last Gear.

4. What can people expect from your live show?

Our live shows are always very intense. It can't be definied as 'funny'. As we said before, we don't make people dance happily. Our stage is always surrounded by smoke and light and our music has a very high output. Our shows are very emotional. Our fans have always goosebumps and this is what we want.

5. Who are three bands you’d like to tour with?

Our dream is to share the stage with mister Steven Wilson. But we appreciate every artists that share our thoughts about music. Opeth, Mogwai, 65daysofstatic are bands that offer STUNNING live shows.

6. Any crazy show stories?

We always try to be professional, limiting bizarre stories. But something funny can happen sometimes, as the time when at the end of our last song, the synthetizer falls down from his support. It was funny... perhaps...

7. What’s your take on the current state of rock?

We think music is art, and so it is developing constantly. Nowadays there are a lot of technologies that can be applied in the process of composition and help musicians in a great number of ways. Rock reaches a higher point every year. Art can't be static and can't be worst of the past.

8. What’s the current music scene like there in the Italy both locally and country wide?

In this period Indie music represents the most trending scene. But there are a lot of bands that makes different music in an amazing way. We believe that the "post" scene is gaining more consensus and in a couple of years it can be a milestone of Italian music.

9. What’s your take on legal/illegal music downloading?

As musicians we think that people must pay for music, buying Cds, vinyl or download it after payment, and we do it. But, in other hands, downloading music in an illegal way is very simple nowadays and is absolutely impossible do not do it. Everyone is free to do what he thinks to be honest and right. If a person want to help the artist he will pay for his stuff. And that's all.

10. What’s next for ODD?

We hope to play a lot of shows in Italy and other country. And we are going to record our second EP.

11. Any shoutouts?

Everyone.
