Sounds like: Death Metal

1. How did you get started with music and how did you develop your sound? Who thought of the name “State Of Decadence” and is there any meaning behind it?

David (Lead Singer): We've always been into metal from a young age. Jake and I have a long history writing music together, starting back in high school. Our taste in metal has always been similar and has evolved into the creation of State Of Decadence. Both Jake and I thought of the name State Of Decadence. We believe it reflects the state of our world in general, economically, culturally, etc. Also we just thought it sounded cool :) Starting off as a two piece, we've recently added two guitarists to our line up, Matt and Laurie which we feel will drive State Of Decadence's sound to a more elite level.

2. What do you want listeners to take away from your music?

David (Lead Singer): As the sole lyric composer, I want people to take whatever interpretation of my lyrics they want. Everyone's different and interprets songs in their own way. That's all I ask from our listeners. That hopefully the listener will take his or her own idea or meaning from our music.

3. How would you describe your music to the average listener?

Jake (Drummer): It's heavy. It's probably not for the average listener haha. We definitely don't have the average listener in mind when we think of our audience. If you're into metal, we just hope you dig it.

4. What can people expect from your live show?

Jake (Drummer): We haven't played a live show as of yet but when the time comes, we hope to deliver a powerful and memorable show.

5. Who are three bands you’d like to tour with?

Jake (Drummer): Whitechapel, Cannibal Corpse and Bloodbath.
David (Lead Singer): Lamb Of God, Whitechapel, and Vildhjarta.

6. Any crazy show stories?

We haven't played any shows yet.

7. What’s your take on the current state of metal?

We think in this day and age, metal is doing well. There's a bigger variety than ever with every genre under the sun to suit everyone's different tastes.

8. What’s the current music scene like there in Melbourne, Australia both locally and country wide?

David (Lead Singer): The metal music scene in Melbourne is going strong. We've seen a lot of our favorite bands come through in the last two years. Locally the scene is strong too, we know a lot of guys playing in some heavy bands and we can't wait to get out and play some shows with them.

9. What’s your take on legal/illegal music downloading?

Jake (Drummer): Personally we're happy with people downloading our music. As long as people are listening to our music.

10. What’s next for State Of Decadence?

Jake (Drummer): We're working on our second single due to be released in the near future. With the addition of our guitarists and hopefully a bassist soon, we hope to write more strong material and hit the stage as soon as possible.

11. Any shoutouts?

Jake (Drummer): A massive thanks to Luke Graham for playing and recording the guitars for our first two singles. He does some amazing work and we look forward to working with LMG Productions more in the future. Also a big thanks for our friends and family for their ongoing and invaluable support.
