1. How did you guys come up with the name "I Am The Messenger"?

We try to have positive overtones to our music. We aren't a "Christian" band, but we try to send people with a positive message of hope and being the change they want to see in the world. And a message of acceptance of others. With a message that we think is a pretty strong one, the name kind of fell into our laps.

2. You guys are from Ohio, what's the music scene like locally there?

Kids from Cincinnati are amazing. They are very supportive of bands, and the unity that has built in the music scene in the past few years makes us want to be nowhere else. There are so many talented bands and so many amazing fans who follow them. And, while we don't have many venues here, the ones we have are fair and incredibly easy to work with.

3. The band has been together since 2005, what are some things you have learned since the formation of the band?

We have learned a lot about working as a team. We divide up tasks to individuals. We have learned to put our personal interests behind us when they aren't in the interest of the band as a whole. This goes for songwriting too. We don't have a prime songwriter. We write the songs together, and they come out better than they would if we wrote them individually.

4. What can someone expect from a I Am The Messenger live show?

Energy! We have tons of fun on stage, but we are always energetic. We put our heart into our songs, and I think it shows live. We like to get the crowd involved, as well.

5. You guys are touring Kentucky soon including a show with Rose Funeral (Metal Blade Records), you guys amped for the tour?

It's actually just a one-off show. But, yes. We are very excited. It should be a great show. A lot of people have expressed interest in coming out.

6. Any good show stories?

Actually, the most recent was just last night. We had a band member who lost a close family member, and we had a benefit show for the family to help cover funeral costs. It was great to be able to see the family members get a night of relaxation. It was clear they had some fun, despite the fact that the music on the show wasn't really what they are into, as you could imagine. But it was really amazing...so many people came together to help throw together a very successful show. It was a really great experience.

7. You guys just released your EP "Robots", how has the reaction been to it thus far?

The reaction has been great actually. Lots of kids already learning the lyrics, singing them along at our shows, and adding the songs to their Myspace pages.

8. What's your thoughts on illegal music downloading?

I wouldn't say that I am for or against it. I don't think that there is anyone who can say that they aren't guilty of downloading SOMETHING. But, it is still product, which isn't made for stealing. At the same time, I think that the music industry has done a decent job of bouncing back. Ever since the file sharing revolution, ticket prices have gone up for events. Bands used to make money off CD sales and now bands profit from tours. At least on a national level.

9. What are you guys currently listening to?

I can't speak for everyone, but I have recently gotten into MC Lars. Also, the new Devil Wears Prada is amazing. Other CDs that frequent my CD player (or the "most played iPod list) are the new Taking Back Sunday, various Jimmy Eat World albums (all great, and never get old), Michael Jackson (and not just because of his passing, been a fan since I was 5). And I have gotten into Alexisonfire recently as well.

10. What's next for I Am The Messenger?

We are working on establishing management and taking steps to further our local career to more of a regional level. We are still a young band and have a lot of steps to take to get there. We are taking the next several months to expand our name and make ourselves known.

11. Any shoutouts?

Honestly, if we were to mention all the people we love and love working with, we would be here a while. But just a few are Zach Wright and Bazookas Go Bang (myspace.com/bazookasgobang), The Beneath (myspace.com/thebeneath), Chris Human, Ron Williams, and of course every one of our fans.

1. How did you guys come up with the name "Suburban Losers"?

Well, we all grew up in suburban areas, and we're considered losers by society, so we just put those two things together and there you have it.

2. You guys recently went through a little bit of a hiatus, how is everything going so far?

i don't know if you could call it a hiatus, but i guess you could, haha. we just lost our two previous guitarists and then found our best addition in Alex. Since Alex joined everything had been going amazing, we've had better songs, more shows, and more success in the local area. Plus with Alex we recorded an EP and started a series of basement demos that will showcase our writing processes.

3. Your material is very old school punk, what are some of your influences?

we were influenced by hardcore punk more so in the beginning and in our previous band, but nowadays we're influenced by 90's punk and pop/punk, but if we're getting specific i'd say our influences include: Minor Threat, Black Flag, Bad Religion, Alkaline Trio, Old School Green Day, Against Me!, Screeching Weasel, NoFX, and a lot more.

4. You guys have a song called "Kevin Smith". What was the inspiration behind that song?

When i (Rich) wrote that song, i was influenced by a band called Nerf Herder to write a more light hearted comedy kind of song while at the time most of our songs were dark and angry. I bbelieve that day i had watched Clerks 2 and we are all big fans of Kevin Smith's movies, so i was inspired to write that song about such a brilliant and hilarious director.

5. Is there a certain crowd favorite that always gets the crowd moving and singing along? If so, what song is it? i guess if any song it would be Kevin Smith, we usually get a lot of compliments about that song after shows.

6. Any good show stories?

The best one we've got so far is when we played a Hot Topic Acoustic In-Store Tour in May and at 2 shows there were little kids that for some reason liked us a lot. The best one was our finale at the Berkshire Mall Hot Topic where this little girl started crying because her parents wanted to leave and she liked us so much that she really wanted to stay, haha.

7. You guys are releasing your debut EP soon, what can we expect from it?

Our EP was already released on St Patrick's Day of this year, the EP is a mixture of pop/punk and hardcore punk with a little bit of folk mixed in. It has songs about our Straight Edge Lifestyle, songs of pain, and songs of hating society and the rules it makes the human race follow daily. It has 7 Punk Rock songs and we've been told it has shades of Operation Ivy.

8. What's your thoughts on illegal music downloading?

we have no problem with it, in fact, we encourage it. i think an artist should be able to decide if they want to sell their music or not, not the labels. Also, in this day and age where money is hard to come by, i think more artists should give out music for free, because music isn't about money, it's about having fun and sending a positive and powerful message.

9. What are you guys currently jamming out to?

Rich: New Found Glory, Gaslight Anthem, Bayside, Saves The Day, Against Me!, Alkaline Trio

Jason: Rancid, Rise Against, Alkaline Trio

Alex: NoFX, Green Day, Alkaline Trio

10. What's next for Suburban Losers?
More Shows, New Songs, a Future Full Length Record, and a monthly Hot Topic In-Store show on the last Thursday of every month starting July 30th. Also we will be D.I.Y. pressing our first installment in the Basement Sounds Demo series.

11. Any shoutouts?

Bryan and Mike Piontek of Five Minute Freakshow and Stoyer. Bryan recorded our EP for us in his studio (Slag Studios). Mike and Stoyer have been huge helps and mentors to all of us. Also, Frank Phobia and Justin Enemy (from Common Enemy), definitely the best booking team on the East Coast.

1. How did the band come together and form?

Jon, myself (joe) and Ryan played in bands together before and after awhile of not being in bands we got together and started to write some new music we had a really hard time finding another guitar player but we ended up meeting gage in ocean city maryland while playing on the boardwalk and we got to talking and had him come down and try out and we all kind've just fell together and formed.

2. How did you guys come up with the name "Atlantic Avenue"?

Atlantic Avenue is/was the name for the Ocean City Boardwalk

3. You guys finished up a Hot Topic tour here in PA, how did that go?

The tour went great! alot better than we expected considering no one knew who we were we kind've just booked it and hoped for the best, we met alot of cool kids at the malls they were really friendly and we got to hang out and eat mall food for an entire week, hot topics staff was really welcoming too and friendly and we're excited to do it again later on this year.

4. We heard you guys are going in Century Studios to record a cover song, can we get a hint on what it will be? Why that song in particular?

we are going into century studios on july 26th to record with Carson Slovak who we've worked with before, we're doing "our song" by taylor swift who is from our hometown, our drummer actually went to Junior high with her, we chose that song because its one of those songs that everytime you hear it, it just puts you in a good mood and is just fun to play. We played acoustic versions of it during the hot topic tour and got a big response from it so we're excited to put our spin on it

5. Some of you were in bands before this one, what have you learned in those bands that could translate to positivity in this one?

Ryan Jon and myself have been playing together for a few years and have been through ups and downs with other band members and i think the big thing we always need to remember is why we got into music in the first place..because we love playing. Also we learned ego's can develop really really quickly so we all have each others back to keep one another in check and just have fun...otherwise whats the point.

6. What are some of your influences?

Some of our influences would prolly be more pop/rock style bands, we're big fans of nine days, third eye blind, we love t-pain and of course blink 182 is one of the reasons we all kind've got into playing music.

7. What are your thoughts on illegal music downloading?

Who cares? if it wasn't for free downloading most bands would never make it and we would be missing out on some good music

8. What are three PA based bands that you would love to tour with?

The Starting Line (if they still are together) would be amazing, Poison just to hang out with Brett Michaels

9. What are you guys currently listening to?

The New Boys Like Girls Single, and New Friday Night Boys CD

10. What's next for Atlantic Avenue?

Recording, Shows, More Recording, Shows repeat repeat repeat...

11. Any shoutouts?

Darby our Merch Guy he goes above and beyond the call of duty.
